little dark jewelry boxes

One of the most intriguingly absurd shops I have ever wandered into: DeVera on Crosby Street in NYC has the most amazing collection of objects that you can ever imagine.  There is something whimsical and museum like about the way they display their finds, and each individual piece is really a wonder in itself.  The price tags are high, but the free museum-like experience is worth the cab fare.

after awhile...

This crocodile inspired brass box is topping my to-die-for list.  Fortunately, it's already sold ("fortunately" because its price tag was only "affordable" during my wine-induced 1st Dibs evening).  This incredibly quirky specimen is a gentle reminder of the real deal.

oooh...sale

I love when a great design find is also wallet friendly.  Tord Boontje already caters to all price points with his high-end and low-budget pieces, but now some of these already great priced lights are on SALE. Yup.  Only $55 on Moss Online.  And if you aren't already a Moss fan, jump on it.  They highlight truly incredible pieces of furniture and art, and are even featured as a "store without walls" in the swanky SLS Hotel's Bazaar.

flea market finds

My all time favorite finds were discovered in the flea markets of Paris and Cuba.

The most swoon-worthy treasure: my Louis Vuitton playing cards, complete with gold trim and the most fab LV box.

Babushkas might seem like a bizarre obsession, but when they are covered in painted Chanel logos (complete with Coco baring pearls and her famous cigarette in her lips), or discovered among Cuban cigars in Havana, they suddenly become an irresistible accessory.

Seek, stumble upon, and purchase as quickly as you can run to a French ATM.  Trust me.

garland? why thank you.

I adore these Tord Boonje garland lights. Not only because they are pocket friendly, but they're also stunning pieces of fabulous art that can be molded into any shape without any of the patience that Ikea requires.  (thank goodness...)

I am a proud owner of the pink version above.  Boontje is pretty much a genius in his design studio, and I'm even more blown away by the rest of his work.

arctic chic

Cold weather used to give my California blood the shivers, but now that Sorel invented the chicest snow boots of all time, I'm really pushing to move to anywhere that guarantees blizzards.

Faux fur trim (yes, really, PETA), and a really cool orange-ish sole option, if you want to stray away from black in the winter gloom.  Its the perfect ski trip accessory while you're enjoying that Baileys and coffee in the lodge.  That is why we all love skiing, right?
